Job Description

We are seeking a meticulous and skilled Art Installer to join our team for fine arts exhibitions and projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to handle and install artwork with precision and care, ensuring each piece is presented according to artistic and safety standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Art Handling: Safely handle and transport artwork, including paintings, sculptures, and installations, to exhibition sites.
  • Installation: Install artwork in accordance with curatorial guidelines and artistic direction, ensuring proper alignment, spacing, and lighting.
  • Equipment Use: Operate tools and equipment such as drills, hammers, and lifts to install and secure artwork as needed.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with artists, curators, and exhibition staff to coordinate installation schedules and logistics.
  • Problem Solving: Address technical challenges and troubleshoot installation issues to achieve optimal presentation of artwork.
  • Packing and Unpacking: Assist with packing and unpacking artwork before and after exhibitions, ensuring artworks are handled with care.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of artwork installation, condition reports, and inventory.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience as an art installer, art handler, or related field in fine arts exhibitions is preferred.
  • Skills: Proficiency in art handling techniques, including lifting, positioning, and securing artwork. Knowledge of handling different types of artwork materials.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and ability to follow installation instructions and guidelines.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to lift and maneuver heavy artwork and equipment safely.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to work in various exhibition settings and adapt to changing installation requirements.
